Overall Job Objective

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to assist the Aquatics Supervisor with the daily operations of the Bellaire Town Square Family Aquatic Center, Evergreen Pool, and Elaine Wood Therapy Pool. This position will assist in supervising all maintenance-related duties at all pools. This position has supervisory responsibilities and will assist in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of the Bellaire Aquatics Pool staff. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises the part-time and seasonal pool operations staff
    1. Assists with the scheduling, supervision, training, and management of Lifeguards and Head Lifeguards
    2. Assists in developing a Head Lifeguard training program, ongoing lifeguard training, and weekly and bi-weekly in-service meetings
    3. Prepares and maintains related records and statistics for the program, lifeguard staff training, and personnel
      1. Plans, direct, and supervises the staff in the conduct of instructional swimming programs, and competitive and special events
      2. Assists with summer pool operations during the week and supervision on weekends
        1. Directs and supervises the collection of all fees, prepares daily records of receipts and deposits same in accordance with agency policies
        2. Collects secure and processes pool revenues following established cash handling procedures
        3. Monitors and maintains water chemistry by conducting water chemical tests to maintain appropriate water quality and documentation
          1. Ensure compliance with health department standards
          2. Ensures the highest water quality, sanitary conditions, and optimum pool performance
          3. Inspects pool and surrounding area for general maintenance and assigns necessary clean up duties to staff
          4. Assists and oversees the maintenance of all mechanical pool rooms and schedules a maintenance program
          5. Responsible for maintaining a current inventory of pool supplies, pool pumps, small tools, etc., and ordering the same
          6. Compiles and submits operating reports which include daily receipts and attendance and accident and emergency rescue reports
          7. Maintains, analyzes, and submits pertinent records for daily patron admissions and revenue, sanitary water conditions (chlorine and pH readings), water back-washing, accidents, rescues and assists, and first aid
          8. Assumes direct responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the lighting, filtration, sanitation, and overall safety of the facility
          9. Works with Human Resources to complete employee records, payroll, training, discipline, and other personnel actions according to the Employee Handbook
          10. Responsible for pool schedule and effective use of the facility
            1. Develops, promotes, and supervises a diversified aquatics program for all ages in accordance with community needs
            2. Conduct periodic emergency drills
            3. Resolves citizen complaints
              1. Directs and assists staff in explaining rules and operating procedures to pool users
              2. Disciplines and suspends from the pool when necessary swimmers who flagrantly disobey rules
              3. Performs various miscellaneous office duties such as answering the phone, typing, filing, and other duties as assigned
              4. Conducts and attends staff meetings and works with social and community groups
              5. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service
              6. Ability to work flexible schedules that may include weekends, evenings, split shifts, and holidays and maintain regular attendance as required
              7. Performs other duties as assigned

              REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

              • Documentary evidence of graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) Test
              • Two (2) years of Lifeguard experience 

              LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

              • Lifeguard Training Certificate
              • Lifeguard Training Instructors Certificate
              • Current C.P.R. and First Aid certifications for the professional rescuer
              • Valid Driver's License
              • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:
                1. Criminal background check
                2. Controlled substance screening
