POSITION SUMMARY


CITY SUMMARY: Bellaire, Texas is located seven miles southwest of downtown Houston with a population of approximately 18,862 residents and a span of 3.5 square miles. POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Plant Operator ensures the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant, overseeing daily activities, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 7am-4pm with some required nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response required on an on-call basis.

PAY RANGE: $33.23 to $48.19 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operational Oversight:
    1. Manages the daily operations of water and wastewater treatment systems, assigning work, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
    2. Maintenance and Analysis:
      1. Monitors and maintains equipment, performs electrical scans, identifies maintenance needs, and conducts routine system maintenance.
      2. Resource Management:
        1. Manages supplies, allocates resources, purchases chemicals and materials, and oversees budgeting.
        2. Compliance and Reporting:
          1. Prepares and submits reports to City, state, and federal agencies, ensuring compliance with permits and regulations.
          2. Personnel Supervision:
            1. Provides guidance to staff, conducts performance evaluations, and fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
            2. Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

            REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

            Education                            High School Diploma or GED
            Experience                          6-7 years of previous relevant work experience is required. 
            Supervisory                         No previous supervisory experience is required.

            *An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

            LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

            • Certifications/Licenses      
              • Class C Ground Water License; 
              • Class B Wastewater License; 
              • Valid Texas Driver's License
            • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:

              • Medical physical
